1. HOPPER COFFEE

Hopper certainly deserves the top spot in the top five coffee spots in Rotterdam. Its award-winning coffee served in cosy, warm surrounds is a 15-minute walk from PREMIER SUITES PLUS Rotterdam and worth getting out of bed for. Until recently it flew under the radar but has recently become a popular and busy spot. They roast their delicious coffee in-house, bake their own bread and make the most delicious croissants and pastries so no matter what time of the day you visit, you’ll leave happy and full. Hopper is on an unassuming side street, hence the lack of footfall until recently, but it’s close to the city and the old harbour.

2. CAFÉ DE BEL

One thing that is common in bars and cafes in The Netherlands, is that you don’t know when one ends or the other begins and Café De Bel is no exception. It’s a typical neighbourhood hangout and one of our favourite spots to enjoy a coffee and a light bite with friends. They serve great coffee or plenty of stronger options if the mood suits. The interior is cosy and with wooden benches and tables and a couple of tables on the pavement outside of the weather is good. They play a mix of music from rock to jazz in the background and often have live music at night.

3. OP HET DAK

One of the most distinctive cafes in Rotterdam, Op Het Dak is a combination of a rooftop farm, an urban garden, and a terrace café. The views from the roof are a great accompaniment to their delicious coffee and remarkable food. They grow their own vegetables, make almost everything from scratch, and even have a bee farm. It has a cosy indoor set-up, or you can choose to enjoy the good weather while it lasts on their terrace. Make sure you try the tabbouleh while it’s on the menu.

4. DAILY COFFEE

If you find yourself exploring the south side of Rotterdam and you need a break and to refuel, Daily Coffee is a great spot. Located in one of the most interesting parts of the city, where quays and jetties have been revitalised and refurbished this light and bright coffee shop has some of the best coffee in the city. Made with an excellent range of coffee made from top-quality beans, they also sell freshly baked bread, tasty croissants, and excellent granola. While you’re in the area, make time to visit the gorgeous new Erasmus Bridge spanning the River Maas.

5. BREAKFAST IN ROTTERDAM HQ

If you need a morning pick-me-up (and who doesn’t!) it’s worth the 17-minute walk to get some excellent coffee in Breakfast in Rotterdam HQ. Located on the North of the city, the staff are so friendly here that you’ll know them by name by the end of your trip. They serve an excellent breakfast made better by delicious steaming hot coffee served in a variety of ways. They also have a special own blend of coffee that they sell in bags in case you can’t live without your morning fix. When the weather is good, you can enjoy an iced coffee on their lovely terrace.
