Worst insurance company to have. Their reps are no help at all and are very condescending. They lack insurance knowledge, they just read off the scripts given, and laugh at you when you ask questions about the plan. Hold times are ridiculous, and they will purposely hang up on you pretending they are looking up the information you are needing. There is never a supervisor available to speak to. Clearly they don’t enjoy what they do or are under paid, whatever the case, they throw it at the customers and do not show any professionalism. The off shore accounts are even way worse that I don’t have words to describe their customer service.

I have been working in the Medical Field for 25 years and have dealt with many insurance companies in those years. There was a period of time when BCBS was the Mac Daddy of Insurance companies, the Standard that all others tried to emulate, I don’t know what has happened, but they are the worst insurance we deal with today. Mishandling of claims, incorrect denials, recoupments, months and months and even a year or more to adjust an improperly paid claim. Try getting to a provider rep, nearly impossible! Call reference number after call reference number, allow up to 45 days, wait, business or calendar? Only to call back and there is no record of previous messages?! Fax again, call again, reset the allowed to another 45 days. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANTHEM/BCBS TO ANYONE. PERIOD.
