Had damages from a hurricane. I feel like the people that work here do not care at all about their customers. They should really consider taking an extra 1 to 2 minutes to explain what is and is not covered when someone is making a claim. I feel completely taken advantage of. I advise anyone looking, to avoid this company.

The people at Homeowner’s Choice have always been very responsive to any and all inquiries. I have worked with them for many, many years, and they always take the time to answer any and all questions, promptly and professionally, and take care of all of my customers. Very friendly and consistently helpful, each and every time I call. And this is true of all of the company, claims, customer service, billing, and managers. I highly recommend this company.

As a restoration pro I will never be doing business again with homeowners choice.

I have never had a good experience with them dealing with storm damaged homes.

I would never recommend them worst company Insurace company I have ever worked with.

Our agency has worked with Homeowners Choice for many years. They have been a pleasure to work with. Recently they have added a new carrier, TypTap, that has been a very good option for our clients in what is one of the hardest markets for homeowners coverage. Their customer service and underwriting department is very responsive. Marketing reps are very attentive to our agency needs and are willing to assist us at all times. I do recommend this company to many of my clients.

I rarely do reviews on anybody. But this Insurance Company is horrible. I submitted a claim on 6-14-2020. All kind of inspectors and structural engineers had inspected my house since then. They all agreed that my 15 years old shingles needs to be replaced. I have tons of leaks and water damage. I have called and left messages with no answer. Its been over 3 months and no responses to my voicemail. I called 2 times a week and no answer yet. 3 tarps and no updates. Horrible Company

We’ve had good luck with this insurance company considering their rates and claims experience. I see some others gave them a low rating, but being from that industry I know sometimes they either have a bad agent who didn’t explain coverages, or they just wanted the lowest possible price and got that by removing coverage they should have had. We had a simple claim with Homeowner’s Choice they paid quickly and professionally. We will certainly continue to use them to insure our home while their rates remain competitive.

I paid my premiums religiously and when the time came for them to hold up their end of the contract, they did everything they could to avoid their responsibilities. I had damage from a hurricane. Their claims adjusters would not return my calls or emails and when they finally decided to pay, the amount they gave was criminal. I had to hire a publix adjuster and then the emails and responses became rude. Do not use them if you ever expect them to be professional or do what they say they will.

Edit 05/11/21: I want to warn everyone about this company’s business practice. I was offered 10% of my claim today by Eric to settle my claim and another 2500 if I changed my review. Not only have they never responded to the email they requested I send, but then they try to offer me money to change my review so people wont know what to expect if they use this company. This is unethical business practices and I cannot recommend them in any way.

Originally I had my homeowners insurance with another company and got transferred to homeowners choice. Have terrible customer service and the adjusters treat you like you do insurance claims all the time, therefore you understand their jargon. In addition to that they raised the rates. Shopped around and was able to get our homeowners insurance plus flood insurance for LESS of what homeowners choice were charging us.

Recently my 93 year old mother sold her condo in Florida. She had paid her homeowners insurance a quarter ahead. We completed the paperwork to cancel and request a refund using the forms they supplied. It turned out It was an outdated form with an incorrect address. After two months I called and they informed me they had not gotten the form. In the meantime we got a cancellation notice for non payment. We filled out the forms again a month ago. No refund. We got another cancellation notice from the same person. Numerous phone calls confirming information and receipt of form, still no refund. It is not clear to me if this is just sheer incompetence or an attempt to hold onto $ that should be refunded. Do not recommend this insurance company.

Anybody looking for an insurance company please heed all these negotiate reviews. Filed claim in September 2020 after hurricane Sally. Still waiting for proper insurance pay out. It’s July 2021and no answer. Hired a public adjuster and he could rarely get in touch with insurance company. Filed a CRN 60 days ago and still no word. All I want is my house the way it was before the storm.

Between the daily non-renewals and the closing of Gulfstream Insurance, HCI stepped in and assisted us with replacement coverage for our clients. So you pay a bundle over the years and one day you need them to respond accordingly and they won’t abide by what is written in black and white.

Unbelievable! I was told this was one of the “good” insurance companies that would have your back when it was needed. Big fail! Big fraud!

We had a problem with our roof and we got in touched with the HCI company and spoke with Joe Ellis to explain the situation, they sent an inspector to take a look and do a report, they saw the damage and right away they took action to make everything happen. Our roof was replaced and they took care of everything. Great company to have when you need it! I also want to thank Shelia and Joe for helping us when we needed them most and for the understanding of our situation. I’d very highly recommend HCI company. If I could give then more stars I would.
