About Loudoun Mutual Insurance

In 1849, the growing town of Waterford, Virginia was in need of an insurance company to protect its citizens against fire losses. A group of Waterford leaders and businessmen established the Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Loudoun County, now known as Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company. Loudoun Mutual’s beginnings were small. The yearly rent for its first office was $25 per year, including the wood stove and firewood. Initially, the company’s vision was to serve the people of Loudoun County with affordable coverage. After more than 150 years of service, Loudoun Mutual has grown into a financially sound and customer-minded company that serves thousands of people throughout Virginia.

Strongly recommend not using loudoun mutual. Dana Danner will find ways to manipulate your claim and they only look out for there best interest to pay out the least amount.

Loudoun Mutual is one of the best insurance carriers around! The amount you pay for the coverage you get is always very fair! I’ve yet to file a claim with them – but I’ve heard nothing but good things about the claims team.

I have nothing but praise for the service provided by LM in regards to a recent water damage claim. The claims adjuster was prompt to respond, respectful of our home and very professional. Our damage occurred on 1/2/20 and we had an initial claim payment on 1/16/20. Only two weeks!

There were two more subsequent claims which were honored with no hassle and promptly paid. The final agreed upon amount for personal property loss was most reasonable if not generous. Never in the entire process did we feel LM was trying to “nickle and dime us” or find a way not to pay. Home damage is at least stressful and disruptive, but our agent Dana and LM, made this a near stress less process. First claim in over 40 years. Proves it has been a good investment. Thank you

Excellent, excellent company. Many insurance companies will look for a reason to deny a claim – Loudoun looks for a reason to cover a claim. Company is fantastic from the top down and they are a great asset to the community as well.

House has been paid off over 6 months or more. Maybe a year and they sending insurance bill to escrow which then leaves me unpaid and close to being cancelled. They said they do not have paperless billing. They need to get with the times

Was told a issue I have with my home is not covered under insurance. I’m paying alot of money every month and I’m told they don’t cover somthing that is apart of the house because it is underground. I will be canceling my policy.

Very poor excuse of an insurance company. They are all snakes and are just there to take your money and not provide assistance when needed. If looking for homeowners insurance beware and stay away from this company!!!

I HAD been with them on the same home for exactly 30 years. They appear to ‘sell insurance’ from other companies but are the ‘front man’ and apparently had initiated an ‘investigation’ of my home through yet another contract company (with unknown credentials) that made OPINIONS that were sent to me WITHOUT NOTICE from Loudoun, that looked like JUNK Mail because it was so wishy-washy. Such as “possible business” “overgrowth of vegetation” “inoperable vehicles” – my Roof was replaced last year, the vehicles are antiques and NONE are inoperable or even dismantled in any fashion (including tires) and my house is in the FOREST so the ground has leaf clutter and not even a BLADE OF GRASS! This month I had a notice of NONRENEWAL for all those bizarre reasons. When I called Loudoun to cancel the 30 year policy, they did not even blink or ask even the first question!! Instead they just transferred me to Bankers Insdirect.

Mind you this is right in the middle of COVID too! This seems to be yet another company that got 30 years of my money and figure it’s time for me to claim (Oh Yeah – big companies do this all the time) so they will cancel me first.

WARNING: Do not buy insurance from Loudoun Mutual Ins. I did work for a 90’s year old elderly woman that required demolition of a 20’ x 2’ section of a concrete slab in her house: discovered there was a broken water line in several places. Her agent met us on site, he was rude, sarcastic and immediately stated they weren’t paying for any plumbing related to the repair. In addition he wasn’t going to pay us what it actually cost but to what he thought it was going to cost. Not only that in phone conversations the agent would get so angry he would abruptly hang up while yelling at me. The repair from pre demolition to final move was $12,000. That was six months ago and to date have been paid half of that. Was just informed they were not going to pay no more. I am forced to take this kind elderly woman to court to get paid for my services. In my 40+ years in serving the community I have never experienced a insurance company so disrespectful to its client, ever. Don’t do business with them and tell your friends.
