About Maryland Auto Insurance

The Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF) was created in 1972 by the Maryland General Assembly as a residual market mechanism with the goal of providing automobile insurance to individuals who may not have qualified for automobile insurance in the private market. In 2006, MAIF was the sixth largest writer of private passenger automobile insurance in the state of Maryland.

One of their insured drivers hit me 6 months ago. They took 5 of those months before they even got in touch with their insured. Then they denied coverage saying their driver wasn’t at fault. So my company sent everything to an arbitrator who ruled their driver 100% at fault. So now I’ve been calling for weeks to get reimbursed my put of pocket costs and they will not return calls at all. 6months later and still dealing with this headache.

It’s now been 30 days into my claim in I literally can not get my adjuster on the phone and or his supervisor. I wasn’t offered a rental car in I just don’t know what process my claim is even in because not one person outside of my assigned adjuster can help me. This is such a inconvenience after I’ve already been inconvenienced.

RUN do not pay them for any policy. They dont pay for your car nor any medical bulls. I hate this insurance company. One of their drivers hit me head on December 2021. I couldnt get a rental car due to deposit. Wasnt sent to physical therapy and they refuse to pay for it. Gave me some chump change for loss wages and pain and suffering . Their driver was at fault and i have to go thru this bs. Adjusters are lazy and nasty demeanors. Never return emails have to chase them everyday with emails amd calls. Candiece Lawrence in particular is rude as hell. And always have amnesia when its time to do her job, dont remeber no emails or calls. I hope i never have to deal with them ever again. So unprofessional. Hate MAIF.
