It is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, which bought the company in 1967. It is Berkshire’s oldest operating subsidiary. Between September 2019 and August 2020, Berkshire Hathaway purchased more than 5% of the outstanding stock of each of the five largest Japanese general trading companies, i.e. Itochu, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sumitomo, and Marubeni.

Horrible customer service, I spent 6 hours trying to add a car to my existing policy. I was disconnected 7 times from the online chat, and the phone disconnected on my 13 times after just ringing and asking if I wanted a call back number it would just hang up…..I still need coverage for my new car and am gonna have to go to a whole new company now🤦🏾‍♂️ Just HORRIBLE. Customer service, you all are right up there with T Mobile now

Mrs.Nina is a great agent! During pressed time, she was very patient with me when deciding on what plan to choose. However; I am still undecided on a future plan choice, but Mrs.Nina said that I could call back anytime to switch plans if need to. Thank you National General and Thank you Mrs. Nina!!!!

He was very professional and listened to what I needed and provided the cheapest insurance known to man and woman LOL. He was very quick at his job and then a matter of 5 minutes maybe 10 I was back in business with my insurance through national general. I regret ever leaving national general a year ago to go to progressive. At the time I was getting my policy for three or four dollars cheap for each month but for some reason the last 6 months term to progressive my 6 months total premium should have been about 260 bucks well they billed me $90 each month for the last 3 months I had insurance through them. I ended up and I paid in total over $450 in the 6 months period I should have stayed with national general the company I had been with prior. Every time I call customer service line I get a human being I didn’t think this existed in this day and age. Thank you for your service to provide Americans with the cheapest insurance and Great American best customer support. The minute you send customer support overseas is the minute you will sign your death certificate for the company I think anyway. As always God bless thank you
