Gallagher Bassett has handled everything with my work injury since 4/7/22. It has been a crapshow to say the least. I was finally approved for an mri mid May which showed a bulging disc. Approved for an Ortho consult for first part of July which confirmed I would need surgery. Surgery was scheduled 3 weeks later for 8/1/22. Gallagher Bassett contacted us on 7/27/22 to state the surgery had not been approved and still needed 3 more weeks to determine if the injury was pre-existing.

Gallagher Bassett then decided that I suddenly needed therapy and scheduled my eval for 8/5/22. Therapy made my condition worse and I was confined to bed until the next Monday when I spent a half day up in a recliner. My 2nd therapy visit was the next day 8/9/22, with the same results. The therapist even had to help me out to the car with a walker. My surgeon and therapist agreed therapy was making things worse and placed therapy on hold. Gallagher Bassett finally approved surgery on 8/15/22, with my doctors office getting me worked in for surgery on 8/17/22. I felt like I could go home the same day (my mistake).

We received an email from my attorneys office indicating Gallagher Bassett approved medication purchases and wanted us to use their prescription card info. I work for a contract therapy company that is nationwide. I have received no communication from them while being at home. My wife did not know the therapy company info needed for prescription approval. Gallagher did not provide the necessary info and I was still on anesthesia along with additional pain meds to provide the necessary help to my wife. We have paid out of pocket using my personal insurance for all meds since 4/7/22.

Guess what Gallagher sent me today via mail. Yep, the prescription cards! Why do I need them now?! I already purchased everything! I am already on my 2nd adjustor and 2nd case manager. The communication was incredibly awful even between their own employees. My 1st case manager not knowing she was dismissed until a few minutes before our scheduled call. No explanation was given to her, other than “he was reassigned”. If you call, they screen their calls and don’t answer. I have only had success with emails. It still takes 2-3 days for a response on an email.

The communication has been condescending at best and ironically they have ‘mansplained’ almost everything to me. I work in the health-field with over 20 years of experience and have dealt with other work comp agencies before both as a patient and provider. I have never dealt with anything like this in my time as a clinician. When questioned why the adjustor can not attain the necessary paperwork she wanted to try and prove my injury was pre-existing, I was told “work comp is a very complicated process”. Yet, she failed to even request any medical paperwork until after the new case manager took over. Apparently, working a fax or placing a stamp on an envelope is an extremely complicated process for the employees at Gallagher Bassett.

As for the prescription card, why do I need it now?! I already paid for everything, I won’t be getting any more meds since I’m being prepped for therapy or a return to work! I can’t believe the positive review on here, and those individuals most likely worked for the company or were paid for the review. All the reviews I’ve seen of this company online are very similar to mine. Not only have I had difficulty with this agency but so have the doctors offices involved in my care.

GB went above and beyond to put me at ease by communicating clearly, honestly and promptly to any queries I had, no matter how minuscule… Dealing with the workers’ compensation system is intimidating, but my case manager treated me with dignity, kindness and compassion
